BridgeCo Technologies: A Case Study

Envision was approached by BridgeCo Technologies in August of 2009. Founded in 2000, BridgeCo is a pioneer and leader in digital audio and media networking technologies. BridgeCo connectivity solutions are comprehensive, industry compatible and customizable. Complete solutions for embedded/slave and standalone/SOC applications allow partner companies to bring their CE products to life with connectivity.

BridgeCo had already partnered with companies like Sirius Radio, Rhapsody, Pandora and other music providers, but was needing to update it’s brand image in order to market to the Consumer Electronics technology providers.

The logo to the right is what BridgeCo was working with when they approached Envision for branding assistance.

Though the initial meeting with BridgeCo representatives was for a new website, it was clear that the existing brand did not meet the perception of value and brand experience that BridgeCo was hoping to achieve. They are an energetic company in the digital audio industry and though they are not targeting the consumer directly, they are selling to consumer directed product companies, exhibiting at consumer electronics tradeshows, and pushing cutting edge, fun technology.

Therefore, the following logo was created to begin establishing a new brand experience.

This new logo represents the youth and energy of the ultimate targeted audience. Also, instead of using the standard wifi symbol to represent the wireless transfer of data, we created a new, uniquely branded graphic element that symbolizes all of the many types of information that can be shared between devices. This graphic element has taken on a life of it’s own. Now labled as “digibits”, the graphic element has been extended across all of the BridgeCo communications and information graphics to tell the story of the product.

This new brand identity as well as all of the supporting materials created (brochure, collateral sheets, white papers, website, tradeshow graphics, et al) enabled BridgeCo to succeed in targeting and partnering with the elephant in their market place…Apple. During the summer of 2010 BridgeCo and Apple announced a partnership.

With the partnership of Apple, Envision launched a PR blitz, securing interviews with CNBC and Yahoo News, and coverage on at least 28 blogs and forums. The media coverage along with the BridgeCo success of partnering with Apple garnered several purchase offers, which eventually led to the sale of BridgeCo to SMSC, an international company based in New York.
